Foot & Ankle Surgery

Foot & Ankle surgery has undergone major advances in the last decade. With these advances, more foot and ankle conditions can be successfully treated with appropriate surgical intervention. These surgeries improve pain and function and allow patients to return to a much higher level of activity.

Specialising in foot and ankle surgery, Richard’s expertise extends to: 

• management of arthritic conditions

• deformity correction

• bunion surgery

• sports surgery to the foot and ankle

• ankle joint replacement.

Following completion of his general orthopaedic surgery training, Richard spent six months in Auckland undertaking further training in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery. He now provides a referral service for disorders of the foot and ankle in the top of the South Island. Patients requiring specialist orthopaedic foot and ankle expertise may be referred to Richard by his orthopaedic surgical colleagues.

Richard is a member of the New Zealand Foot and Ankle Society. He regularly presents at national meetings and undertakes research in foot and ankle conditions.
